South Carolina Alcohol Server/Seller Training

South Carolina’s new alcohol server certification law, H.3430 (signed May 12, 2025), requires servers to complete an SCDOR-approved training program. Online Only Proctored Exam 4-Hour Minimum

State Approval Update

Important: Programs previously recognized in South Carolina are no longer approved under H.3430. Only providers that are reviewed and approved by the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) will qualify servers for certification.

What’s Required Under H.3430?

  • Training must be online only (no classroom testing).
  • 4-hour minimum, interactive modules with audio; progress gating.
  • Available in English and Spanish.
  • Proctored testing with a defined passing score.
  • Program fee may not exceed $50 per attendee.
  • Providers must report completions to SCDOR and retain records for 5+ years.
  • Upon passing, attendees receive a unique certificate number and download the official certificate via MyDORWAY.
