Food Handler Certificate Program Stakeholder Communication

In the state of Washington, anyone who serves, sells, or supervises the sale of alcohol at an on-premises consumption establishment is required to have a MAST permit.

Important: Effective July 27, 2025, Washington State law requires a MAST permit for anyone performing these duties at any on-premises, consumption-licensed location.

There are two types of permits:

  • Class 12 Mixologist Permit: for people 21 years of age and older.
  • Class 13 Servers Permit: for people 18 to 20 years of age.

The Class 12 permit allows you to:

  • Draw alcohol from tap and mix drinks
  • Perform duties included in the Class 13 permit
  • Manage the establishment
  • Conduct alcohol tasting

The Class 13 permit allows you to:

  • Take alcohol orders
  • Carry alcohol to the customer and pour it into a customer's glass at the table

The training is the same for either permit—we will mail the appropriate permit based on your birth date. You MUST be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to complete this training and receive your MAST permit.

Once you complete the training and pass the final exam, we will mail your Class 12 or Class 13 permit to you within 30 days. We will also report your training to the WSLCB within 30 days. Note that we typically mail MAST permits every two weeks, so you will likely receive your permit well before the 30-day deadline. If you do not receive your permit within 90 days of completing your training, you must notify us within that timeframe to request a free reissue; after 90 days, a replacement fee will apply.

As of 01/15/2019, this course has been APPROVED by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board.

Happy Students Say About Us

Don’t take our word for it. LIQUORexam.com courses average 4.8 stars!

Josh Whiteman Charleston, SC

“After evaluating several options for South Carolina alcohol server training, we chose Liquorexam.com and couldn’t be more satisfied. The course was straightforward, easy to assign to our team, and met all SCDOR requirements, including the built-in proctored exam. The online proctoring process was seamless—no downloads or complications—which made it easy for our staff to complete training without delays. From a management standpoint, being able to track progress and access certificates in one place has saved us a significant amount of time. Overall, the experience was efficient, cost-effective, and exactly what we needed to stay compliant. Highly recommend for any South Carolina business needing reliable alcohol server training.”

Amber Finsel Jim Thorpe, PA

“After years of frustration dealing with other companies for our RAMP and safe food handling certifications, I am so glad we found LiquorExam.com! The other companies we have dealt with are more expensive and complicated and their customer service is terrible. I especially appreciate the most common sense feature of having access to my staff’s completed certificates. I paid for the course and need record of the completion but with other solutions, the staff had to provide me with their certificates. With LiquorExam.com, the certificates are stored all in one place in my easy to access dashboard. Assigning exams and adding new users is a breeze (accomplished in a fraction of the time it used to take with other companies) and if there is ever a problem, their email customer service is great. They are truly a company that aims to please and take all the pain out of compliance. Wild Elder Wine and Cider Co.”

Chris J. Seattle, Washington

“We use LIQUORexam.com to keep our servers MAST certified, and it’s been a great experience. The training is well organized, and the permit reporting is handled quickly. It’s affordable, efficient, and ideal for businesses with staff turnover. Highly recommend for anyone in Washington’s hospitality industry.”
