Washington State Alcohol Server Permits

To legally serve alcohol on-premises in Washington, you must hold one of the following:

Class 12 – Age 21+
Allows you to draw alcohol from taps, mix drinks, manage the establishment, conduct tastings, and perform all duties permitted under a Class 13 permit.

Class 13 – Age 18–20
Allows you to take alcohol orders and serve drinks to customers at their tables (no mixing or drawing from taps).

One course, the right permit

  • Single training for both permits: Our curriculum covers the requirements for Class 12 and Class 13.
  • Age-based issuance: We mail the appropriate permit (Class 12 or 13) based on your date of birth.
  • Eligibility: You must be at least 18 to enroll and receive a permit.
